Class Assignment: Project Reflection

1. Define the following terms:
You may use your notes and online references.

Brand: A type of product manufactured by a company under a particular name.
Marketing: A type of product manufactured by a company under a particular name.
Demographics: Statistical data relating to the population and particular groups within it.
Aesthetics: Concerned with beauty or the appreciation of beauty.
Focus Group: A demographically diverse group of people assembled to participate in a guided discussion about a particular product.

Respond to the questions below with a short answer response of four to six sentences each.
2. Explain how these terms are used in product analysis and product evaluation (refer to your notes). These terms are used in product analysis to properly evaluate your product so that you know what you can include or disregard in your product.

3. After creating a CD cover, what have you learned about product design?
I have learned that people have different views or perspectives on certain interests such as designing and in evaluation, it is understandable for someone not to like your design.

4. Explain the steps you took to translate a concept into a design and then to a finished product (consider the design cycle). First I created an outline to assume the view of what the product would look like. Then, after I initially created my cover, I evaluated my cover by getting feed back from my peers to see how further I can improve my design.

5. How has knowing and understanding your demographic helped you to create a product for that demographic? It helps me know so that way in the process of it all, I am able to complete what is expected with no problem. Therefore, it helped my at a better pace to complete my design.

6. Reflecting on your own process in the design task, what would you do differently in executing your design (consider investigation, design, evaluation, planning, etc.)? I would say that I am glad everything happen in a sense where I would not change anything. This is because through the minor obstacles I experienced, I learned something new and it will stay with me throughout all my years.

Homework #6: Process Journal

In order for the product to be marketed, the product has to be evaluated to assure that the product is in common liking towards the audience. Many people consume certain things depending on the brand, so, the best way to find someone to evaluate the product is through our peers and through the audience who are actually going to consume the product. The way I will use the demographics to evaluate my data is through getting the opinions of the common people, or the common audience who will consume this product. Possible changes I would use depending on the results would most likely be the choice of coloring in the text. I will determine if I conducted a good evaluation if the audience agrees that the aesthetics of the CD cover are good and ready, also known as the CD cover being, "On point".

Process Journal 2

In the design, I am up to the part where we now have to create our CD cover. For me, its difficult because I don't think the directions are being properly explained and not everyone gets it. So its not like I can ask a neighbor for help. Another major issue I had was to expand the photo I choose for the album cover, the picture gets blurry so the CD cover then looks ugly. We were told after, close to when the period was over, that the picture had to have a high resolution so that the image initally comes out being big enough. Unfortunately, I was not able to accomplish basically anything this week. The computer I was using had technical difficulties, stopping me from completing my task. The worst part about it was that What I had actually started on Monday, was saved to the desktop of ONLY that computer. 45 minutes of the period was wasted. I may officially have to restart the CD cover.

Certainly, my next goal for the next upcoming class periods is to finish my CD cover. I already had an outline of what I expected the CD cover to look like so I don't have to plan much other then to put it together. And hopefully, the computer I use works properly. As well, this time, I will be more cautious in where I save my work because I may not always have the opportunity to use the same computer every week.

Process Journal 1

In succeeding to do complete my task, there has been steps that I have taken to do so. I first began with choosing my artist and deciding what genre, type of music, the artist will sing. Another obstacle I had to accomplish was in creating a brief overview of what the CD album will look like. The characteristics of what should be included on the CDs' physical appearance. The way I was able to succeed in overcoming these obstacles faced is actually planning what the CD will include. Fortunately, these challenges were able to be addressed. And thanks to the design tasks guide, the development of my project is slowly working out. The design briefs and specifications help to break down the situation, which is our task, so we can do every step correctly.

Homework #3

1. What is the task?
The task is to create a CD cover of an artist, actor, or yourself changing the image they give of their original person.
2. What is the problem? How can we create a … that will… ?
The problem is we are trying to find out who we are going to use and decide how we will change them to have a different image. For example, I am using the Hip Hop artist Drake. I am changing his image from Hip Hop artist to maybe a rock artist or even a country singer. So, to create the new image, we would have to research the person and change it.
3. Are we offering a product, a solution, or both?
I believe we are offering a product. The main goal of the task is to create a CD cover, something that will attract the attention of the audience whether it's from ages 12-21 or even a group of senior citizens. So this product will help do that. The reason I would think that it is not a solution is because through my prospective, I'm not changing any lives or solving a problem necessarily pertaining to the image of the artist I'm using nor helping the audience either.
4. How will this product serve the target audience?
The way that this product serves the target audience is basically answered with the saying,"Give them what they want". For example, if when selling a product such as chips, the price is $1.00, if the the sellers observe that the demand rises, they will raise the price. Another example would be the iPhone. When the first iPhone came out, there was only a limited amount of features on it but as more and more people began to buy it, they continued making more and better generations of the iPhone with more technology.
5. How will we attract our target audience?
The way we will attract our audience is creating a product where the audience can relate to it and have an interest in maybe what the CD says or how it is designed.
6. Who is your audience?
My audience are the persons of ages 12 to 21 that are interested in the design and the artist himself.
7. Why did you choose this age group(s)?
I choose these age groups because my age is more or less close to these ages, I can relate to them more meaning I know what we teens and young adults look for.
8. Who did you pick for your product? Why?
I choose the Hip Hop rapper Drake. I choose him because he is one of my most favorite artist. I also choose him because I am aware that many of my peers enjoy his music just as much as I do and to relate to them, the audience/consumers, I choose him.
9. What do you expect to be accomplished once your product is complete?
I expect my product to show the main idea of the task and be able to attract the attention of the audience. I want my product to be able symbolize what the point of the task was and to demonstrate the approach taken in creating this product.
10. Why did you choose to change your persons genre in the form you choose?
I choose to change him into a Rock or Country artist. I say this because he naturally raps so a different approach would be making him sing a genre where people wouldn't expect to even here him take part of.

Homework #1B

1. If branding targets prospects to recognize its product as having a solution to a problem, what problem does your brand address?
The problem that my brand addresses is more unisex clothing for people to have a different variety of liking.

2. What solution does your brand offer?
It gives people an opportunity to show their taste and things they like to wear, to be different and stand out from others.

3. Does the brand clearly convey that message? Explain how.
I yes this brand does convey the message. I say this because in my description, on my logo, I have men and women on it and that logo would go on the shirt.

4. Do you identify with the message? Explain why.
I do identify the message through the logo. My logo has women and man printed on it and a big UC that stands for Unisex Clothing, but for short, Uni-Clothing.
